Shipping & Taxes
Backcountry Safety - your backcountry and avalanche safety store will ship to US, Canada and the rest of the world. We might be forbidden to ship some gear outside of Canada by a manufacturer but that will be specifically indicated on the product's page.

All prices are in Canadian dollars. To find the most recent exchange rates visit XE.com.
Shipping rates, couriers and speed of delivery
The shipping rates are based on product's weight and volume. Thus sometimes it may cost the same amount to ship an avalanche beacon and an avalanche shovel as it would cost to ship just the shovel.
The fastest way to calculate shipping rates is to add a specific product to your shopping cart. Then click 'Go to Cart'. Once in the cart click 'Secure Checkout' button. On the following page please fill in billing and shipping addresses and click 'Continue'. The next page will show you all the different shipping methods we offer with prices beside them.
We use UPS and Canada Post. The choice of a courier and a method is up to you. You will specify this in the checkout process. UPS does not deliver to PO BOXes but if you choose that courier and you wanted to deliver to PO BOX we will ship your gear using Canada Post.
Speed of delivery depends on the method you choose in the checkout process. We usually ship the next business day after we receive your order.
Taxes, customs and brokerage fees
Taxes, customs and brokerage fees all depends on the laws of the country the product is being deliver to as well as on the country of the origin. And of course on type of the product too.
In some countries backcountry and avalanche safety equipment is considered by law a life saving equipment. For example avalanche beacon and avalanche probe are in such category in Canada. Avalanche shovel isn't nor is other equipment we sell (in Canada).
It is up to you to find out the appropriate fees that might be associated with shipping your gear. We shall be not responsible for such fees in any way.
